I am going to start doing something different around here. I am always on the hunt for recipes that I can whip up after work, so typically in 30 minutes, or less and always have trouble coming up with ideas, so I am going to start keeping a log of my favorite recipes.
But to kick off 2020, here is my menu from a little NYE dinner party we had:

Six months ago, we welcomed our second baby girl, Millie, into the world and our hearts. My world is forever changed in the best possible way and I enjoy being this girl's mama so much. She is full of chubby cheek smiles and every day is even better than the last.

I shared this quote on instagram a few weeks ago and I have it taped on my work computer, I feel like it really explains my whole life right now.
We just broke ground on a pretty large renovation/addition project on our house. The result is going to be a wonderful change, but right now my heart still feels incredibly broken. I haven't had much to say lately, so it didn't seem necessary to force writing a post. We are mostly just sad and miss our baby.
I had a moment last week where I realized that everything that has happened was truly real. We are no longer anticipating Mabel's arrival. It sounds crazy, but we had planned for her for so long and then she came and went so Meganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04908058639125491308noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562542218912488426.post-84758891275788348662016-02-04T19:10:00.000-05:002016-02-04T19:10:23.057-05:00Pictures of MabelIn preparing for Mabel's memorial, Joe and I realized that between the two of us we had at least one picture of Mabel from every day of her life, so we got them all printed and displayed them at the church. I spend a lot of time scanning through these pictures and reliving those 37 days that we had with Mabel and thought those of you that couldn't make it might like to see them.

We are inviting you, our friends, to join our family to celebrate sweet Mabel.
Additionally, we have heard from many of you regarding sending flowers. In lieu of flowers, we have made it possible for donations to Dekalb Medical to go to the NICU in honor of Mabel. Between days in the windowless NICU and the holidays, we have been in a serious time warp.

The NICU only closes from 6:30 - 8 am and pm for the nurses shift change. I am so thankful that we live only a mile from the hospital and are able to come and go as often as we like.
I had been at the hospital by myself earlier in the afternoon/evening and got to hold Mabel for a long time, so I let Joe have a turn. The last three weeks are such a blur for us that it is hard for me grasp that it is 2016. The thought of this new year brings hope for joyous moments as well as the unimaginable pain that I am trying not to anticipate.
Our sweet, tiny baby, Mabel, was born December 12th at 12:21 am by c-section after a roller coaster ride of a day. It started out as what had become our normal Friday routine Meganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04908058639125491308noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562542218912488426.post-36150821408043826812015-05-26T16:51:00.000-04:002015-05-26T16:51:29.825-04:00Kitchen: Inspiration
It’s finally happening. I have a game plan on
how we are going to update our kitchen and my goal is to keep it within a $2000
budget. After contemplating all different kinds of options, I decided we are
working with what we have as much as we can and doing a little DIY action. I
have to finalize the paint colors, but I am thinking black cabinets, white
paneled backsplash, and butcher block Meganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04908058639125491308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562542218912488426.post-76877372128793642852015-05-14T16:02:00.000-04:002015-05-14T16:02:34.464-04:00Run to this estate sale!

I have been obsessed with tracking down blue and white ginger jars lately and after I hit the jackpot on a complete blue willow china set two weeks ago, I decided it was time to cease the obsessesive blue and white buying and redirect my focus.

I have found myself obsessing over kitchens that
have tables in them instead of built-in islands. I am striving to never have a casual kitchen table and only using our
dining room table for every meal.
Part of it might be that we do not have room in our kitchen for a table. One
issue with this is that Joe and I still eat appetizers in the kitchen while
cooking and the same goes for when we have Meganhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/04908058639125491308noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-562542218912488426.post-11224404544725759842015-04-30T09:54:00.000-04:002015-04-30T09:54:00.107-04:00Save the Bees

I will be trying to incorporate all of these

Part of my daily grind (aka job) is booking travel and the majority is to NYC. Since I did live there for almost four years, I know the ins and outs pretty well, though I am not as in tune to the hot spots like I used to be. Anyways, our people like to stay at The Roosevelt Hotel, for some odd reason, and I received this in my email box yesterday afternoon:

I won’t lie. I struggle with this blog a lot,
because I don’t want it to make me a materialistic person obsessing over all of
the pretty things I could buy to make my house look like a magazine.
Instead, I am striving to make meaningful
decisions and purchases. I am purging like a crazy person. I want my house to
look like that magazine, but my reason is that I really don’t want the clutter

Seriously, I enjoy trying to decorate my house on a budget and it is definitely thrilling to find a great piece for a great price, but if I could hire an interior designer and Kelly Wearstler was out of my budget (still) then I would hire Lindsey Coral Harper. Holy cow look at these pictures from House Beautiful!
